Worse induction cook top ever engineered

I have been cooking with induction for 30 plus years. I have had problems with this product since first use. The induction property is slow, taking over 3 plus to boils water (should take near one) because heating was so slow I originally thought my unit was defective, but after 3 costs and 2 replacements of my mother board I have concluded this is justoirly engineered. I will state that using recommended hessian pans improve the performance, but this product should work with other inducting pots and pans. For the record, I have All clad. In addition, if if the pan's induction base doesn™€™t cover the entire circle, the magnetic fields won™€™t pick up the pan, and won™€™t work. In other words, right front large burner surface is basically unusable . I have never had this issue with other induction appliances at my other residence (for the record, I have 4) the sou vide button, which was a big selling point, works great with hessian pans improve, however, after just 2 years of use(I don™€™t cook at this residence very often!!) the paint is coming off and always looks dirty. I tried contacting customer support to deal with anyone who cares, but after explaining 3 times to Bodewell professionals and GE customer support, I find no one is taking responsibility for this poorly engineered product and highly recommend do not ur phase!!!

Café™ 30" Smart Slide-In, Front-Control, Induction and Convection Range Model #: CHS90XM2N4S5 Serial #: TT075414Q Install Date: 11/09/2022 My dream stove. Works beautifully... when works. I've had this range for sightly over three years and some component of it has been broken for about half that time. A burner worked intermittently due to the sensor failing. Approximately seven trips out by service personnel made it work on again / off again. I was told it was a 'cleaning issue' but every time it failed it was due to a poorly manufactured part. The service techs were wonderful, but there is only so much you can do with a poorly made appliance; GE customer support was a pleasure to deal with, even extending the warranty several times after repairs. This morning was the last straw, the display was blank and no amount of resetting or effort on my part could make it work. All features worked last night, but at eight o'clock... nothing. Otherwise, the controls were wonky. When a drop of water is on the face panel, the temperature can't be adjusted. When the control panel is wiped off, it sometimes changes the temperature setting to MAX and burns the food (happens quick too!). The top doesn't accommodate some cookware - my lodge grill pan doesn't fit by about 1/8". The 'linked' burners don't bridge in the middle for cooking, so it's just two burners on with a cold spot in the middle.

Bad Design--Regret my purchase

The most dangerous aspect of this range is how much heat escapes and blasts a person in the face when opening the oven door. This amount of heat blast is highly unusual--I've owned many ovens in my 60 years--and so this must be design related. The front of the cooktop is too large and pans easily bump into this raised area when removing from the stove, Plus, who needs a giant ugly clock at the front? The dials for the burners are generally touchy and awkward, and if your hand is moist they don't respond well. Too many digital features make functionality slower and more glitch prone. Seriously regret buying this range!

The process to complete rebate form for the Hestan Cookware is nearly impossible to complete! From start to finish the process seems to be a complete failure. The stove itself okay. Burners do seem to be a bit temperamental....time will really tell as we become more familiar with this product.

The range is beautiful but completely unreliable. The left front burner (the precision cooking burner) stopped worked about three months after the Cafe one-year warranty expired. Thankfully we have a Geek Squad extended warranty to take care of it. They replaced the control panel and the burner worked for exactly one day. We are scheduled for a second repair this week. Meanwhile, we are also getting steam from the oven door when we bake things. What a mess. We paid full price for this disaster, over $5000! Unbelievable. This is our first Cafe appliance and our last.

I purchased this range two years ago, and I've already had to request service five times due to repeated induction failures. It malfunctions every few months, leaving us without a functioning range for weeks at a time. Each repair takes between one to two weeks to get things back to normal. If you're considering this range, I'd strongly recommend staying away from it due to its ongoing reliability problems.

DO NOT BUY any GE/Cafe Product with 11" burner

I purchased this product over 2 years ago because of the GE name, Cafe style and overall fit for our kitchen. It worked for nearly 2 years until the 11" power boil burner started being erratic. It would flash after being in use for a few minutes, sometimes would come back on, then eventually stopped working altogether. Naturally we were out of warranty. We couldn't even get through the GE website after entering model/serial #s to find a repair person because it said we were out of warranty - so don't expect any help from GE directly. We finally (independently) got a GE repair person to come and say it was the main board. We replaced that. Immediately the same problem. We had an electrician come and verify we had exactly 240V being delivered and the cord was connected optimally. Still doesn't work. Google this problem and you will find it is a well-known issue with these GE/Cafe 11" power burners. Something is not right and I -- like many others -- am now left with a $5k stove to cook for a family of 5 that I can't use a large skillet to make them pancakes or boil pasta water on. This is the worst appliance purchase I've ever made and the customer service has been non-existent.

Seems ok. Burners are too sensitive. To the size of the PAN. Period the temperature control seems too not be responsive. 2 small changes period the camera in the oven worked well. That seemed aims too far back for casserole. I put in period Have not been able to connect my s m q yet, but haven't spent a lot of time at it. The front left burner with the little bump in it. The spring is too strong and tips. A lot of pans. Add installation. The plug in back was not recess into the oven, so that you couldn't slide the unit all the way against the wall and had to put a spacer in. You wanted to know what I think of it. I've told you I hope that s time goes on. I'll learn to use more features. And enjoy it more.

It is a little difficult to set up. I have not been able to connect my HestanCue pans yet. The touch knobs dont seem to have the variantion flexability I imagined. The burners are too sensitive to the pan placement. Basically all I have is a 1 aburner stove so far. A stove that expensive should come with the temp probe for the oven, lcant believe I have to buy one.

I would love to review our new range but it was dead on arrival. Our appliance company even contacted their GE service representative and after his inspection it was concluded the range was defective. This concerned my husband and I as this is almost a $5k range and it arrived defective. We have used GE for 17 years and stand behind the brand. We understand things happen but it still concerned us. Our replacement range is being installed next week so fingers crossed everything goes great!

Beautiful Equipment Poor Function

I purchased in June 2023 and received 8/21/ 2023. The induction top started performing poorly on 10/26/2023. The front right burner no longer works and the font left power boil burner won™€™t stay on with my pans. It is really frustrating knowing that I can™€™t fully use the cook top because the pans aren™€™t heavy enough or something to keep the large cooktop going.

So far the range works very well and cooks very evenly, much better than our gas range. It is also much easier to clean than our gas range was. Our only complaint is the oven racks are almost impossible to slide easily in and out of the oven. They drag on the oven walls.

ordered 6/13. Delivered & installed 9/12. Has never worked and GE seems flummoxed on repairing it. It was returned to the shop 10/2. We hearing they don't make 'brain boards' that they believe needs to be replaced.

We ordered it on 6/13, installed 9/12. It has never worked. GE is dodging trying to address it's problems and has told our installer it is a "Consumer problem" because we plugged it in at delivery. How, pray-tel, might one use a Induction Range if it is not plugged in? Replacement boards not available. Can't replace Range with another. This will be my 1st GE product and the Last.

I never suspected I could be excited about a cooktop, but I was wrong... After getting this induction range, I'm blown away with how much better it was than my previous gold standard of gas. I had gas at a previous home and loved the precise control it provided over the electric coils or radiant cooktops. I thought that could not be surpassed. My current home originally had an apartment-grade electric coil cooktop on a stove. When it was time for a new one, I hadn't even heard about induction cooktops until I ran across them in researching replacements... We were looking at thousands of dollars to install gas to my all-electric house to accommodate a cooktop. Then I discovered induction cooktops and the extra measure of control they offered over gas intrigued me. Given the air quality considerations, I was sold... I also learned that, while natural gas burns cleaner, it requires a heavier environmental toll to be refined to its best form. Plus with gas there's lots of wasted energy released into the room that never even makes it to the pot being heated, which is not the case with induction cooktops. So with the extra cooking precision PLUS environmental considerations, induction turned out to be by FAR the way to go. This GE Cafe model is wonderful, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The smooth cooktop is SO easy to clean and doesn't have nearly the effort to worry about drip pans and whatever else is going on under gas cooktops. Cleanup, air quality, efficiency, and precice control are all MASSIVE factors in favor of induction cooktops over gas and any other type. This Cafe model offers a classy replacement to any conventional small 30" range and will improve your cooking experience more than you ever thought possible.

Over-engineered

Mid-manufacturing of this model/series, GE changed the look of the cooktop. Instead of the cooktop having a solid piece of glass, it now has a button (nipple) in the front left burner. Now that the surface is interrupted, food could get caught in the circular cut out. The oven takes considerably longer to cool down than my previous GE electric oven. The controls and my granite counter stay warm longer. I don't like the timer. You have to turn it off to add minutes to the cooking time instead of just pressing additional time. I also don't like that the way controls are positioned at a slight angle slanted away from the surface of the cooktop. It would be preferable to make them perpendicular to the cooktop to keep them less vulnerable to food drips. I would have bought a lower model but the lower model had the same design issues as this cafe.It would be great if GE would offer a simple induction instead of the models they now offer. Most people don't want all of the bells and whistles. This appliance has been over-engineered/over designed.

Cannot imagine why anyone would choose another type of range. Heats and cools so quickly. Easy to control temperature. No uncomfortable heat emanating from the burners or the utensils while cooking. More economical. I cannot imagine why anyone would choose any other range.

Induction and 'smart' features a joy

Induction is a true delight... oh so much better than gas... EXCEPT it is frustrating that the burners are so sensitive to pan diameter/size. When using a small pan I'm forced to use a back burner which is much harder to reach. Perhaps certain pans would work without size being an issue but none of mine do.

I was very interested in an induction stove and when my old one was on its last legs, I researched them. The wait list was very long for the lesser GE model, so I went with this as the old one by then was dead. I have enjoyed getting to know it and still am learning the multiple features. One thing was wrong... the insulation inside the oven door came loose but I figured out how to get it back in. I think I might have done something trying to move the stove with the door open (LONG story having to deal with the abutting cabinet). But overall this was a good choice and I am glad I made it.

You need an internet connection in order to use certain badic functions like convection roast. DO NOT BUY THIS APPLIANCE. It should be stand alone. It is just another unethical company wanting to gather information.

The oven worked for 6 months. Then the burner stopped. 6 months of trying to repair it and they deemed it unable to be fixed. They sent a new one (which came beyond the time they gave me making me late for an appointment) and it had COSTCO written on it. The racks for the oven don't fit and it is not the same model. We have spent 4 days, a tech coming out to our home, confirming the racks don't fit and are wrong, 90 minutes of being transferred over and over and then gaslighted that the oven is the same as our old on (it is not) and now they need more proof that the racks don't fit. We want our money back.

Overall, I love this range! It's attractive and easy to keep clean. The induction surface cooks a lot like gas in terms of responsiveness. Quite frankly, it has more features than I will likely ever use. It's a bit "techy" and I wish that I had had help setting it up. I am still not sure whether it really relies on a wi-fi connection or not. It does have faint humming sound when the burners are turned on -- this seems to bother one of our dogs. I'd recommend this range for someone who wants something attractive and cutting edge.
