Do not purchase GE or Bodewell. If you have an issue with an appliance, they will promise to mail you a rebate only after you buy from their website and wait until the rebate shows up in the mail which it never will. Constant emails and calls back and forth with new people because others have left the company, statements that it has been mailed, it was lost, there was an error, they will send it again, etc. Have been a GE appliance customer for over 25 years, never again after this what could have been simple issue with a microwave purchase of all things. The honesty and customer service is gone with this company. So disappointing.

We bought the earlier product in April 2021. We just replaced basically with the same unit. however, the first replacement footings were broke and it wobbled. It took three trips to find another ibex we replaced due to rusting inside the unit and we noticed a hole in the rust on the top.

Microwave developed bubbles under the film covering the control panel in only six months. Warranty claim? Forget it. Their customer support is possibly the WORST. Call to GE Appliances gets routed to Bodewell (which, ironically, does not bode well) and their automated responses only led to disappointment - such as informing me there was a service/travel fee of something like $150...for a warranty claim?!? Might as well just buy a new microwave...but certainly not GE.

This is the 7th time we've bought this item, and it has lasted anywhere from 2 weeks to just over 2 years. That is a terrible record!! The only reason we keep getting it is because it's the only model we've found (so far) that is big enough to fit our casserole dish but small enough to fit on the shelf without interfering with a nearby cabinet door.

I have replaced my old, long serving GE microwave with another GE so, while I have not used it yet, I™€™m certain it will function just fine. Be aware that the plug sticks straight out rather than hang down at a 90 degree angle. Because it sticks straight out you will not be able to push the unit back as far as you may want to. I™€™d suggest GE change this in future products for ALL appliances.

I am not rating this microwave. I am rating the one that I had to replace after 19 MONTHS!!! The exact same model. The only reason I replaced it with the same model is because it fits my space. My average use on the previous one was 1/2 hour a day.. NINETEEN months and either the magnatron died or something else in the high™€‘voltage power section. That is simply unacceptable. When it was working, for that short period of time, t was great.

We bought this microwave as a replacement for an old GE microwave that had worn out. Maybe I should have checked first but I didn't realize that it lacks a mute feature! How is it possible in 2026 that GE sells new microwaves without the ability to mute the stupid annoying beep sound? That functionality can be implemented purely in software so it would cost them nothing. It's literally worse than the equivalent product from 15 years ago. GE is going backwards and letting their customers down.

Just started using this oven and it is working OK, but it has a serious design flaw: the display is much too dim. How can GE screw up this critical feature? On top of that, Home Depot will not allow a return. I missed the fine print about that. This product is not user friendly for older people due to the unreadable display. Very disappointed!

Perfect fit to replace an older built-in microwave

This GE model GCST16S1W1SS exactly fit the built-in cabinet for our 10 year old Whirlpool microwave, and it even fit perfectly into the old trim panel and the support bracket. Even the holes on the bottom of the new microwave fit exactly into the holes on the old support bracket. It made switching out the old microwave a breeze! We are so glad this product was available. It functions just fine and the whole cost was so much less than other options.
