Had to install a GE because that is what fit in my cabinet as I did not want to lose my cabinet drawers. It does no look very nice compared with the Zephyr - especially the button that is wrapped in plastic ( I can see that being an issue) My BIGGEST complaint is that after ONE week the unit will not lower - ONE WEEK! Spend the extra money and get the Zephyr - I wish I had!

After less than a year after installation and with only minimal use, the vent does not work! Vent does not raise up, though motor engages. We can lift the device manutally, but it does not stay up and fan will not come on. Expected more from this manufacturer and brand.

This is more about customer service then product. Downdraft would not extend 1&1/2 years after install. Called customer service/ tech support and they had no help other then to schedule a service appointment. The service technician said he was ™not very familiar with the unit™. Didn™™t bother to troubleshoot but was happy to write up an estimate for over $2000.00. The unit new cost $1000.00. I ended up removing the cover to the motor and after tapping the solenoid it started working normally. Was unhappy that the ™service tech™ didn™™t try this and when I called customer service to have the $121.85 service charge refunded, they refused. GE should do a better job of standing by their products.

This equipment was sub quality. --°t was to replace a much better model from GE. --° can't believe you are selling such low quality equipment these days. In addition to this, the fact that your team cannot even install these and we were ripped off by the only contractor we could find who did, who did a terrible job has left is with such a bad taste in our mouths with GE that we will begin to replace all our appliance with Miele as they require replacement.

This is.a replacement of an older model. This one is poor quality. The stainless top trim is barely attached to the top of the vent. Very surprised as all the previous GE appliances were very durable.

I was replacing my older GE downdraft system with new one. Worried that it wouldn't fit, but the installation person after a couple of sawing and heavy maneuvering go to fit. Not for a novice handy man to install. Even if GE provides a guarantee on fitting if you are replacing your GE appliances with GE appliances, not always a clear match.

I'm not really unhappy with it, I just don't use it very much. Because the fan height is pretty low, it doesn't always draw off all the steams/cooking output very well. I do like the controls and the fact that there's no mfr id on the part that's showing on the countertop - fits in nicely with my Cafe cooktop. I could have purchased much more expensive models from other manufacturers that gave me better height/draw, but for the money this was a good fit. I was replacing another similar unit that was 20+ years old from Thermador (combo cooktop/vent fan) so it was pretty much apples to apples.

No surprise to me when my new downdraft stovetop vent performed as expected if not better than expected. The new device replaced a 20 yr. plus old down draft vent which was paired with a black GE stovetop. Changed stovetop to brushed stainless GE Cafe Stove top and decided to replace vent at the same time and we are astounded with performance and cooking center's beauty.

Poor design and manufacturing. We™™re on the third unit and this one still isn™™t right either. Issues are not with performance, but rather ™fit and finish™. Poor design of how the unit covers the hole in the countertop.

Same design as the 20 yr old one we replaced. We went with it since we don't use it that often, was less expensive, and the fan didn't telescope as high as others. That said, probably a mistake. Looks cheap next to our Monogram cooktop and doesn't mount flush. Poor manufacturing with hardly a straight edge to it.

Overall fan does the job. The fan control switch is hard to turn if you have large fingers and can br hard to reach if your arms are short. The removable grease filters are difficult to remove for cleaning. This is my second GE downdraft and I™™m surprised the functional design isn™™t better.

I have no alternatives in my existing kitchen cooktop and vent fan configuration. Thus, when I put in a new GE gas cooktop, my then 17 year old vent fan needed replacement. It had been repaired multiple times already, and died for the last time in April 2021. GE promised a new design. Great. I ordered one in April 2021. Due to production delays it wasn™™t ready for install until July 15, 2021. It worked for less than 13 months, and approximately 3 weeks after the original warranty expired, it suddenly stopped working. It still had power, but it wouldn™™t telescope. A GE repair person came (at a cost of almost $130) to diagnose it as a ™lift motor™ failure. The repair cost was $1923.70. More than a new one costs. Needless to say, I was extremely disappointed that a year old appliance like this, that was a brand new redesigned product, would die at 13 months. Yes, I had problems with the original one, but it could be repaired for a few hundred dollars and lasted 17 years. These new ones are all electronics controlled and if one of the switches fails, everything has to be replaced because it™™s all housed in the stainless steel panel. So, I™™m hoping my 2nd new one in 13 months doesn™™t die too. And note, I don™™t cook all that often, so it™™s not like it was used daily. More like once a week.

Comparing our previous 32 year old Thermador downdraft to this new GE Profile, this new one performs much better. It is quieter and draws better. I also prefer its ON/OFF switch and speed control mounted on the unit itself. (The old one had its controls co-located with the cooktop controls on the cooktop.) I was mildly disappointed with the finish appearance of this new GE.
Rarely are cuts into an island countertop perfect. The previous Thermador had a 0.75 inch chrome trim edging which covered the cutout edge better than this new GE Profile downdraft, so for pure aesthetics the old Thermador had somewhat better trim appearance than this new one.
