Scratches Way Too Easily

My wife and I have a KitchenAid Black Stainless Refrigerator that we purchased about a year and a half ago. We purchased it because we have had other KitchenAid appliances that have been good products. While we have been happy with the refrigerator's mechanical performance, we have been very disappointed in the Black Stainless surface. We have been extremely careful only to clean it as described in KitchenAid documentation, yet it has still developed scratches. We have never had any appliance that has has this sensitive of a surface, KitchenAid or otherwise. We have made two contacts with KitchenAid on this matter and the best they can do is this response: "we can only recommend using the appliance touch up paint on the scratches, as this is use and care related. We do truly apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced." I don't find this helpful at all. Though I understand that "use and care" is generally not under warranty, I find this Black Stainless surface to be so sensitive to scratches as to be unusable. I would hope that KitchenAid would recognize this and 1) make changes to the product and 2) offer some support to end users. I do not feel I am being unreasonable in this. Given both the response from KitchenAid and the quality of their product, I would recommend against buying from KitchenAid and would certainly not buy from them again. They are a huge disappointment to me.

Low Quality, regret purchasing

I am not happy with this refrigerator. The door was dented on arrival. It took over a month to get repaired. We never got the kitchenaid door plaque we were promised. The freezer door slightly comes off the tracks unless you pull right from the middle of the handle (was told this is normal). The doors look dented on the sides from a distance (was also told this is normal). The produce drawers have a lot of friction and are hard to slide in and out. You have to lift them to slide back in then they go over the humidity selector and get stuck. It is louder than our old refrigerator. Food at the center back freezes. Kitchenaid used to be quality. I have owned their products for many years. This refrigerator feels cheaply made and I regret purchasing it which is a bummer since we were so excited to have new appliances and paid a lot for them. Will look for a new brand for future purchases.

KitchenAid was the final choice

After researching for 3 years finally decided on my new refrigerator. Had a side by side previously and never really liked it. Having the French doors and freezer on the bottom is the perfect fit for me. Love the design features, capacity and the black stainless is really nice. Time will tell but do feel that the drawers could be a little sturdier.

WHY IS THE WATER DISPENSER A 2-HANDED JOB???

I love everything about this refrigerator except the interior water dispenser. WHY is the button to dispense water ABOVE the spout??? That makes absolutely no logistic sense whatsoever, and cannot possibly be ADA compliant. The button to dispense should be BELOW the spout, so you press your glass against it to get water, as you would on an exterior dispenser. I love the space-saving aspect of the interior water, but it should NOT require both hands to operate.

We bought the entire line, dual fuel range, undercounter microwave, diswasher and french door fridge. The fridge is the disappointment. It runs more than my old Kenmore did. Is that normal? The freezer drawer is hard to pull once loaded and the baskets go to the left if you don't pull them right. Also, we have been unable to tighten the handle on the freezer drawer so it remains constantly loose. Not the quality I expected from KitchenAid. My daughter has a huge Samsung fridge that works effortlessly compared to mine. After dreaming of this new kitchen for years it pains me to think that I will have to replace this beautiful fridge and ruin the look of all KitchenAid handles in my space. When I shop for a replacement I will still look at a KitchenAid first hoping that I just got a lemon.

Incredibly good looking

We purchased this refrigerator about a month ago and we are very pleased. It replaced a solid black one that was a monster. The black stainless blends so nicely it doesn't draw attention to itself. It just looks good. It holds a lot more than our previous refrigerator with features like the fold up shelf, it creates space. The freezer is nice as well and the ice maker makes ice in a timely fashion.

Great Refrigerator

We've built two houses in the past two years and used this refrigerator in both. I love how spacious the interior is, both on top and in the freezer. The shelves can be adjusted in many different ways to create the functionality you need and accommodate all different size containers. I absolutely love the interior water dispenser as well. It's nice to have a clean looking exterior, but the convenience of the water inside and out of the way, plus no drip lines on the outside. When leveled correctly by the installer, the doors close themselves without closing on you while you're using it. Overall, this fridge has served us well in both of our homes and we would purchase it again if a third one was necessary.

Had a few issues

Overall, I LOVE my refrigerator. I was not sure how I would like the freezer being a drawer, but it actually holds far more than I expected. I also really appreciate how easy it is to see everything in the fridge. I have had a few issues, unfortunately. Almost immediately we noticed that the lights would not come on in the fridge when you opened the door, sometimes it would, other times an incredible delay. We also had water dripping in the fridge from the ice maker area. The store we bought it from came out and diagnosed the issues. The installers had not put the icemaker pieces in completely correct, so that was dealt with and seems to be resolved. The light issue was a known problem, so a new board was ordered and had to be installed at a later date. It has been done and the light problem is now resolved. A new issue has popped up . . . last night we noticed Ice crystals building upon the exterior of the freezer drawer side. We cleaned it up, so now we will see if it comes back and if we have to call the service department once again. Very disappointing since the size, layout and function are exactly what we wanted.

New KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator/Freezer

We purchased this Refrigerator/Freezer about 3 weeks ago, when our old Whirlpool stopped working. We got a great deal on the purchase price, as we bundled the purchase with a new KitchenAid Range, Microwave and Dishwasher. We have been very happy with this new Refrigerator/Freezer. We like the Black Stainless finish. If someone can explain the best way to the exterior - specifically clean the Black Stainless front, I would appreciate it. One site stated we could use (car) wax on the exterior and only use a mild detergent mix with water to clean. Another site stated not to use the (car)wax (as this was for stainless steel refrigerators only). It has been clear that we should not use Windex on exterior, but to use only a mild detergent/water mix. Help, if anyone has any additional advise, please advise. The refrigerator/freezer we purchased did not have the water/ice dispenser, and we did not hook up the automatic ice maker in the freezer. I love that you can open the doors and see everything in the refrigerator. I like the freezer feature on the bottom. It is well lit and easy to see what we have stored. I rated this product as excellent.

door shelves aren't deep enough

I'm very disappointed in this frig. The door shelves are very narrow in depth. The rounded corners also take away enough space so there's not room for two side-by-side gallons.
